Mausund is a small village and an island group far out in the ocean outside Trondheim. Blueye was invited on a three-day voyage with Norwegian University of Science and Technology research vessel "Gunnerus" to Mausund as part of a course offering advanced training to high school science teachers.
One of the topics addressed on the trip to Mausund was how kelp can be used as a bioindicator, and how the teachers could incorporate this into their science classes. Our role was to provide the teachers with an opportunity to explore and see the kelp forest of Mausund themselves, and to give an idea of how underwater drones can be a valuable teaching tool in the future.
